about me

I'm so glad you're here.

Building a more just and imaginative world is the greatest privilege and journey of my life. Along the way, I’ve picked up quite a few ideas, insights, and learnings about how to scale trust, care, and access in people-centered organizations. I’m grateful for every opportunity I get to share these gifts with you.

My Story

I grew up in the Bronx, New York — but from an early age, I learned how to move between very different worlds. My mother worked as a caregiver for affluent families in Westchester County, and I often spent time alongside her in those homes. Throughout my educational journey, I moved from public school into private school environments. The contrast was stark—in resources, in expectations, in who was encouraged to imagine a future without limits. Those early experiences gave me a lens I’ve never been able to put down: the ability to see how systems insidiously determine who is supported, who is resourced, and who is left to navigate on their own.

That lens followed me into healthcare. I studied public health and worked inside elite, well-funded academic medical centers that were often misaligned with the communities they claimed to serve. As a Black woman in those spaces, I experienced racism both subtle and overt. The frustration was both destabilizing and clarifying. Out of that reckoning, I alchemized my rage into resolve—and began building what I believed healthcare should look like for women like me. Health in Her HUE was born from that conviction.

What began as a deeply personal response evolved into a venture-backed platform connecting Black women and women of color to culturally responsive care. Building it showed me what’s possible when community is treated as an asset rather than an afterthought—when innovation is grounded in lived experience, cultural humility, and trust.

My Christian faith shapes how I move through all of it. As a follower of Jesus, I’m guided by a commitment to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. (Micah 6:8) Today, my mission has expanded. I work to help establish a new standard of leadership and innovation—one where lived experience informs strategy, trust strengthens economics, and sustainable impact and financial performance reinforce one another.

When I’m not working, you can find me at brunch, sitting in quaint coffee shops with free WiFi, reading books about race and intersectional feminism, and traveling. Some of my favorite countries I’ve visited are Cuba and South Africa.

Recently, I stepped into a new chapter—getting married and taking on the name Wisdom-Casey—while continuing my work as Ashlee Wisdom.

Health in Her HUE

Health in Her HUE is built around the belief that every woman of color deserves healthcare designed around her Heard and Understood Experiences—what we call her HUE. The platform connects Black women and women of color to culturally responsive providers, trusted health content, and a community of women navigating similar health journeys. Through tools like Carepoint, where you can get quick answers from medical professionals, and the Care Squad program, which pairs women with peer support groups around specific health topics, HiHH is reimagining what healthcare can feel like when it actually centers you.
